Creating great learning experiences in VirtualSpeech just got easier with the launch of our latest feature: Assigned Learning.
Now, admins can create even more curated learning experiences and deliver focused, customized training modules to learners, removing one of the biggest obstacles to learner engagement – choice paralysis.
Bringing one of the most heavily requested features from our customers into the VirtualSpeech platform, Assigned Learning allows you to build custom learner pathways for your learners to train with – while simultaneously hiding any exercises that aren’t relevant to your training strategy from view.
Here’s the full rundown on VirtualSpeech’s most anticipated feature launch, including how it’s already changing how our customers deliver training:
How Assigned Learning Works
Previously, your learners would open up the VirtualSpeech platform and navigate through our catalog of scenarios to find the training exercises they were supposed to complete.
But with a library of more than 50 off-the-shelf training scenarios – in addition to any number of custom exercises created with Roleplay Studio – to navigate, it could sometimes be difficult for learners to find the right piece of training content.
That’s where Assigned Learning steps in. With Assigned Learning, admins can hand-pick the most relevant scenarios to your learners and deliver them in a focused module.
When learners log into the VirtualSpeech platform, they’ll instantly see their tailored pathway along with the completion criteria for the module. No distractions, no choice paralysis – only the learning experience your team has curated.
In short, Assigned Learning allows you to deliver a learning experience that’s:
- More relevant
- More focused
- More simple to use
Than ever before. So how do you get started with Assigned Learning in VirtualSpeech?
“Assigned Learning makes it much easier for trainees, especially first-time users. The fewer choices they have, the better it works, giving them a clear, structured path to follow.”
For Admins
Admins are responsible for creating the learning experience within VirtualSpeech, which now includes custom learner pathways with Assigned Learning.
In the Admin Dashboard, clicking on the new clipboard icon brings you to the Assigned Learning menu. From here, you can customize the user interface that learners will see when they log into VirtualSpeech.
Admins have full control over:
- The learning module’s content
- The order in which learning content is displayed in the pathway
- Module completion criteria
- Which learners the module is deployed to (grouping by audience, skill gap, or business objective)
- Whether the learners have access to just this pathway or the full VirtualSpeech library
This means teams using VirtualSpeech can now create learning experiences like never before, removing the challenge of finding the right exercise or getting lost in the platform.

“It’s incredibly effective. I found myself thinking, ‘How long would this have taken me to get students through the content manually?’ Having everything organized in one place, where you can easily view and access all your content and assets, is incredibly valuable.”
Kasey Clawson Hudak, Associate Professor of Corporate Communication, Penn State University
For Learners
Assigned Learning makes using VirtualSpeech simpler than ever for learners.
Instead of logging into the platform and searching for the training content that they’re supposed to do, learners are immediately met with their assigned pathway and completion criteria.
For learners, Assigned Learning creates a learning experience that is:
- More accessible
- Less time-consuming
- More tailored
The result is training content that’s aligned with your learners’ exact needs and is effortless to find and engage with.

“The new Assigned Learning is really valuable. Including a pre-assigned path and having that structure is especially helpful as it means we don’t have to coach students through the menus – we can simply give them a clear path to follow.”
Christian De-Kok, Director of Career Development, Aurora University
When You Should Use Assigned Learning
What does Assigned Learning with VirtualSpeech look like in practice?
Imagine that you’re launching a leadership development program for a group of new managers. You want them to develop their communication skills, but you don’t want them to have to search through the full VirtualSpeech library to decide where to begin.
Using Assigned Learning, you can create a dedicated learning experience for this group, selecting relevant courses and exercises, organizing them into a custom pathway, and then presenting this set of learners with a tailored set of activities built for their specific learning needs.
This same approach can be used across different roles, departments, training programs, or skill development priorities.
The key? Creating a learning experience that’s tailored to what your learners actually need.
