Its Library and Knowledge Centre leverages cutting-edge technologies like virtual reality to equip students with essential skills through a forward-thinking learning culture.
The Goal
Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Centre wanted to show students how virtual reality can benefit their communication skills in their dedicated VR lab. They identified a need to practice public speaking in English and this became the use case to launch an event to generate excitement and prove the effectiveness of VR for learning.
Student
“I gained a lot of knowledge and wisdom. VirtualSpeech really feels like practicing the real situation and provides the opportunity and experience you need to master a skill… It really helped me with my anxiety and the AI coach clearly explained how I should improve.”
The Solution
Mahidol University ran a two-day hybrid event, ‘VR for High Impact Presentations’, to enhance student’s English and presentation skills.
Lecturers spoke about the key techniques taught by VirtualSpeech and the benefits of using immersive learning, before students dived into the VR headsets themselves and practiced their English-speaking presentations in VR.
Students were given scores for their performance via the instant AI-powered feedback, which they tracked on a leaderboard to find the ultimate champion!
